Crispy Potato Squares
Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes (Yukon Gold or russet)
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp grated parmesan (optional)
- 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
Instructions
1. Prepare the Potatoes
Peel and cube the potatoes.
Boil in salted water until fork-tender, about 15 minutes.
Drain well and let excess steam escape for a few minutes.
2. Mash & Season
Mash the potatoes until smooth.
Mix in:
- cornstarch
- salt
- pepper
- garlic powder
- paprika
- parmesan (if using)
3. Shape
Line a square baking dish or tray with parchment paper.
Spread the potato mixture evenly about 1 inch thick.
Chill for 30–60 minutes until firm.
4. Cut into Squares
Remove from the tray and cut into bite-sized squares.
Brush or spray with oil.
5. Cook Until Crispy
Oven Method
Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 35–45 minutes, flipping halfway.
Air Fryer Method
Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes until golden and crispy.
Optional Flavor Variations
- Add cheddar and jalapeños
- Mix in chopped herbs
- Sprinkle with chili flakes
- Serve with garlic aioli, ranch, or spicy ketchup
They come out crispy outside and fluffy inside—great as a snack, side dish, or party appetizer.
